A long-term freelance opportunity, inside IR35, exists for a Site Engineer on an iconic rail/civils project. Your proficiency the management of the quality process on large related civil engineering project is sought.

Duties will include –

  • Assist and advise on the preparation of project documents, such as Management Plans, project procedures and forms and to ensure these documents are prepared by appropriate members of the project team for the project and reviewed and revised as necessary.
  • Assist in developing specific project / task quality plans.
  • Carrying out quality audits on internal project processes, identifying issues as part of an informative report.
  • Assist in maintaining an audit actions tracker and ensuring these are closed out in a timely manner.
  • Maintain the project NCR and defects registers, ensure they are kept up to date and that NCRs / defects are submitted within the contract timescales and are closed out in a timely manner.
  • Promote the register within the team and be the driving force to ensure actions are closed out.
  • Assist in the review of sub-contractor’s quality plans.
  • Review ITPs (incl. self-delivery works) as required. Maintain the ITP Schedule/Register, ensure is up to date and help ensuring ITPs are approved prior to start of works.
  • Assist in ensuring handover documents such as completed inspection and test plan records and as-built information are captured in a timely manner by conducting regular reviews of the quality registers.

Requirements for this opportunity are –

  • A civil engineering qualification is desirable.
  • Knowledge and understanding of QA / QC principles and their application to a project, suppliers and sub-contractors.
  • Extensive understanding of and the implementation of civil engineering principles as well as of BS and ISO systems.
  • Previous experience in a similar role for a tier one civil engineering principal Contractor
  • Recent rail experience advantageous
  • CSCS, PTS or willing to obtain one.
