Sewell Wallis are pleased to be working with a well-established Practice Firm in Sheffield who are rapidly growing.

Due to their rate of expansion, they are now looking for an additional Semi Senior Accountant to join their team as they continue to grow.

This firm is looking for a well-rounded Semi Senior Accountant who can hit the ground running and get stuck into all processes from start to finish. They offer a brilliant, inclusive culture and offer a progressive pathway for your career!

What you will be doing?

  • Preparation of year-end accounts - preparing all working paper schedules to create a set of financial statements to draft stage for manager review, and including final amendments post review prior to final sign-off (95% are limited companies rather than sole traders)
  • Preparation of business tax returns
  • Preparation of self-assessment tax returns for various clients
  • Additional ad hoc duties as required, might entail some HMRC forms to cover bands touring in foreign countries, reconciling figures to a tour budget, or working out a manager's commission etc. for example.
  • Bookkeeping for some accounts - including posting purchase invoices and sales invoices and matching bank transactions to these, to the relevant software. Filing documents promptly
  • Using bank statements to post any additional transactions leading to the reconciliation of bank accounts on the software
  • Some foreign currency transactions - possibly multiple bank accounts to reconcile
  • Ad hoc additional work such as Agency reconciliations, PayPal reconciliations, and credit card reconciliations as required job to job
  • Occasional management accounts / interim reporting
  • General client communications requesting records and dealing with general day to day queries and client advice as required
  • Preparation of some quarterly VAT Returns - for manager review
  • Assist with the training and development of junior members of staff in the office

What skills are we looking for?

  • AAT qualified (or close)
  • 2-3 years of practice experience
  • Knowledge of Iris, Sage, Xero and QuickBooks is advantageous
