We are looking for an Area Operations Manager to join our Wales, West and Isle of Man (WWOIM) regional team, who will be responsible for visibly leading and managing the people across your designated area, to ensure you are delivering a safe, effective and inclusive lifeboat service.

About the role

As Area Operations Manager, you will provide leadership, direction and support to your teams in an active operational environment, looking after both full time staff and volunteers.

Working as a part of the Wales, West and Isle of Man (WWOIM) regional team, you will be a credible people manager used to leading in an operational environment. You will:

- Provide leadership, direction, management and guidance to a group of lifeboat stations, ensuring they are operating in line with RNLI values, policies and procedures, to deliver the core lifeboat service.
- Inspire, lead, support, coach and develop your team, promoting interpersonal relationships, in order to create an inclusive environment for all RNLI people.
- Collaborate with other colleagues within the WWIOM region to deliver the RNLI’s lifesaving service and objectives through operational support, education, influence and education.

You will need to live within the area covered by these stations or within easy commuting distance.

As part of the role, the successful candidate will be expected to travel throughout the RNLI WWIOM region for meetings and to support other regional staff as well as undertake occasional travel within the UK and Ireland.

About you

We are looking for an experienced people manager, ideally with experience in a marine environment, you will have:

- Significant experience in people management; coaching, influencing, mentoring and people related investigations.
- Relevant management experience or educated to degree level.
- A demonstrable track record of delivery in management roles, driving improvement against clear and measurable targets and ensuring and monitoring compliance

We are looking for a genuine team player who can bring their skills and experience to help deliver lifesaving services in this area. You should be prepared to work flexibly to support our volunteer’s needs when required, with occasional evening and weekend working to support your stations and volunteers at a time that suits them.
