Salary: £25,000-£35,000.00 per annum
Location- Manchester, M41
About the company
My client are a civil engineering and building contractor, incorporated in 1992. Formed initially to service the needs of the Petroleum Industry, the Company quickly developed and expanded laterally into traditional civil engineering and building projects. Utilising the experience gained in the petroleum field, we have been able to apply fast-track construction principles, bringing significant benefits to new Clients, across various sectors.
With headquarters in Manchester, the company operates nationally having successfully completed works in, amongst others, Edinburgh, Southampton, London and South Wales.
My client are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and hard-working person with a positive attitude for the position of Buyer to undertake duties associated with the construction industry.
Responsibilities:
· Daily ordering of raw materials from external suppliers
· Daily ordering and reviewing of plant hire tools and equipment to ensure minimum hire costs whilst maintaining reports.
· Organising waste removal from construction sites.
· Updating delivery dates / chasing late orders & expediting raw materials where required
· Monitoring stock levels & liaising with supervisor to replenish stocks
· Working closely with Contracts Managers, Goods In & Production to ensure business requirements are met including stock availability issues
· Liaising with Goods In / Purchase Ledger / Suppliers where delivery / invoice discrepancies arise
· Reviewing purchasing agreements with suppliers and maintaining price updates.
· Sourcing new raw materials suppliers and services.
· Requesting samples & technical information from potential new suppliers for future projects.
· Negotiating with new & existing suppliers
The successful Buyer will have the following skills / experience:
· Experience in purchasing within construction environment.
· Excellent planning & organisational skills
· Ability to interpret and understand construction drawings an advantage but not essential
· Ability to work to tight deadlines and work under pressure
· PC literate with good experience of all Microsoft programmes especially Excel
· Excellent admin skills
