An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Compliance to play a crucial role in continuing our client’s company’s success by leading compliance policy and operations for the fastest growing FCA advisory firm in the UK.

Job Title – Head of Compliance

Salary – £55,000 - £60,000 dependent on experience  

Who they are?

They have taken compliance to the independent motor finance sector and engaged a whole market, increasing compliance across hundreds of firms. Successfully getting more retailers authorised in the UK than any other company, and with a growing subscription base of 600 and climbing, they have changed the landscape of consumer credit compliance, turning the approach on its head in four years. They have also developed a bespoke APP and their own compliance system which paves the way for a bright future.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading, coaching and developing the compliance team.
  • Implementing robust compliance measures, safeguarding the integrity of the organisation.
  • Ensuring that the company operates in compliance with all relevant regulations and laws, minimising regulatory risks.
  • Serving as a trusted advisor to the directors and senior management team on compliance matters, providing strategic guidance and recommendations.
  • Maintaining a strong working relationship with regulatory authorities, demonstrating transparency and cooperation in all interactions.
  • Providing subject matter expert advice and guidance as appropriate as well as providing horizon scanning of relevant compliance matters.
  • Leading, managing and overseeing the completion of monitoring activities in line with the annual plan.
  • Building credibility within the business via strong engagement and quality outputs to help raise awareness of compliance and conduct matters and embed a consumer outcome focused culture.
  • Providing support, steering, and challenging the business on outcomes and actions arising from monitoring activity.
  • Facilitating, continually improving, and managing KPI dashboards and departmental MI based on operational activities.
  • Producing MI for the firm. 
  • Deputising for the Compliance Director (SMF16) as needed, including attending executive committees.
  • Fulfilling some Compliance Advisory work as required by the directors.
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for regulatory inquiries and examinations.
  • Keeping abreast of regulatory developments and communicating changes to relevant stakeholders.
  • Managing relationships with regulatory bodies.
  • Providing training and education to employees on compliance requirements.
  • Fostering a culture of compliance awareness throughout the organisation.
  • Creating, reviewing and updating policies, processes, and procedures. Overseeing the implementation / embedding of these were appropriate.
  • Meeting regulatory / legislative timescales providing well-structured, well-considered summaries of proposed regulatory change to the business and collating responses to the regulator as required.
  • Coordinating and overseeing the schedule of compliance activities resulting from internal and external (FCA) activities.
  • Raising awareness on areas of interest for the business and focus from the regulators.
  • Raising the profile of the business and its activities via publication, professional social media and in person / digital events.
  • Hosting and facilitating events to raise the profile of the business and demonstrating its position in the market.

Our client would love to hear from you if you have:

  • Strong focus on consumer outcomes in a consumer credit compliance environment.
  • Experience of producing a robust and risk-based Compliance Monitoring Plan and using underlying tools.
  • A track record of delivering outcomes focused thematic and ad hoc monitoring reviews to a high standard.
  • Experience of working with regulatory requirements, including the Consumer Duty.
  • Strong working knowledge of the FCA Handbook including CONC, SYSC, PRIN and to a lesser extent ICOBS, MCOBS and CMCOBS.
  • The ability to plan and prioritise effectively to meet changing priorities and demands.
  • The ability to interpret data and information to highlight opportunities and minimise risk.
  • Excellent communication and engagement skills; able to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Commercially astuteness.
  • An analytical, pragmatic and systematic in approach to problem solving.
  • Previous experience of managing other compliance professionals.
  • Able to work and deliver alone or as part of a team
  • Relevant qualifications such as ICA qualifications in Compliance, Governance and/or professional standards such as CeMap.
