What you'll be doing:



The Risk and Assurance Advisor is to support the compliance of legal requirements and ensure the business adheres to guidelines. You must establish and promote a health and safety culture within the organisation, focus on creating a safe work environment and maintenance of policies and procedures,



The successful candidate will oversee Health & Safety management on demolition schemes, consider how risks could be reduced, carry out regular site inspections to check adherence to policies and procedures, record inspection findings and produce reports that suggest improvements, and drive continuous improvement in behavioural safety.



The advisor must work closely with stakeholders to monitor and understand the risk profile across the business and act accordingly. In addition the advisor acts as a point of contact for expert advice on process safety and health and safety topics.



  • Act with autonomy to manage time, stakeholders and responsibilities.
  • Understanding and implementing the Group's Health and Safety Policy and arrangements.
  • Monitor the performance of your sites in order to identify where additional support / actions are required. Depending on severity, escalate any concerns to the manager
  • Where you identify any serious issues appropriate action must be taken, including escalating and stopping the job
  • Organise and support 7 day reviews following close calls, incidents and accidents where required - liaise with the operational teams to ensure a full investigation has been completed
  • Support R&A Team with communication on good practice and lessons learnt
  • Monitoring of AVA Projects and assisting the close out of actions in a timely manner
  • Attend sites as per the visit planner and business line risk profile to engage with operational teams and to observe the day to day activities.
  • Support operations to drive business improvements relating to risk management.


  • Ensure that all improvement projects are implemented at site level and outstanding actions are identified and managed with the operational leads.
  • Keeping up to date with Legislative changes relevant to the business and distribution of these to relevant persons
  • Maintenance of our external Accreditations (ISO(phone number removed), NFDC, Saf Contractor, Achilles etc) through yearly submissions and participating in 3rd party audits
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including, but not limited to; MDs, PFI Directors, Head of Technical Performance, Contract Directors, GMs, BMs, Contracts and Operational Managers as well as R&A wider teams.
  • Supporting the bid process and attending client/customer sites as required Identifying project specific risk and mitigations, working with the operational team to determine safe technical solutions.
  • Promote good practice across the business setting a personal example by observing all site safety rules and by wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment at all times.
  • Actively involved with certain improvement projects, working alongside groups across the wider R&A team
  • Attend and contribute, where required but not limited to, HSE committee meetings, Client Safety Forums and meetings, Workshops, R&A meetings, Monthly Ops meetings and quarterly H&S meetings
  • Carrying out and recording attendance at site 'Tool Box Talks'






What we're looking for:



  • H&S experience working within Demolition, Construction, Civils or with Industrial Machinery
  • H&S academic qualification (NEBOSH general certificate or similar)
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to influence key stakeholders at all levels.
  • Be motivated to drive improvements within the business to achieve a proactive culture.
