Quality Inspector

OVERVIEW:

We are seeking 3 Quality Control Technicians to join our client in Newcastle for an initial period of 12 months.

Experience in Receiving Inspection is essential, as is a working knowledge of Microsoft products and the ability to interpret specifications and drawings.

Experience in writing detailed reports, e.g., Non-Conformance Reports, would be advantageous.

ROLE DUTIES

  • Based on shifts to fulfil certification review and visual inspection duties but fully trained in all aspects of the QC Technician role.
  • Provide shift cover for holidays, sickness, etc., often at short notice.
  • Duties include but are not limited to:
    • Reporting directly to the Quality Control Supervisor, addressing a wide range of Quality Control-related issues.
    • Liaising with functional groups for all Quality Control-related activities/problems.
    • Interfacing with customers, third-party, and certifying authority representatives as required.
    • Providing technical support and guidance to work centres for training process inspectors.
    • Writing and revising Quality Control procedures and related forms.
    • Assisting in failure analysis.
    • Performing Receiving Inspection and completing pipe maps.
    • Administration, sign-off, and verification of inspections.
    • Verifying dimensional and inspection reports for product conformance.
    • Ensuring identification and traceability of products and materials at all stages of the manufacturing process.
    • Writing detailed reports as required.
    • Generating Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) in accordance with applicable procedures.
    • Conducting random verification and auditing of inspection activities and laboratory testing to support shifts.
    • Performing calibration of measuring and test equipment.
    • Inspecting and approving formed Flexlok and Carcass profile samples.
    • Actively participating in Continuous Improvement initiatives.
    • Providing technical support to work centres and projects on Quality Control requirements.
    • Performing any other duties as directed by the Quality Control Supervisor.
    • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • ONC/HNC from an accredited college, university, or trade school, or substantial experience in Quality Control within a manufacturing environment.

EXPERIENCE

  • Working knowledge of ISO/API Quality Systems, Quality practices and applications, and Continuous Improvement Tools.
  • Ability to respond to common enquiries from management.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and detailed drawings.
  • Competent in all process inspection activities.
  • Requires working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of Goods Receiving Inspection Systems and/or supplier certification is desirable.

The shift pattern for shift workers is a 4-shift pattern (Days (7am-7pm) and nights (7pm-7am), repeating every 4 weeks).

£30 per hour standard rate, plus various shift allowance – Estimated annual salary of £56,000
