Job Title:

Senior Data Engineer

Location: Warwick or Wokingham, Hybrid, Onsite once per week

Remuneration: £650pwd, paid via Umbrella company

Contract Details: Fixed Term Contract for 6 months

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimise tools to identify and investigate suspicious behaviour in the Energy Balancing Market, supporting regulatory decision making and reducing energy costs.
  • Collaborate with business end users to understand requirements and improve processes and tools using Python, SQL, and Power BI.
  • Enhance team capability and efficiency by identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing solutions.
  • Master data acquisition, cleaning, and transformation, ensuring high-quality data pipelines for analysis and model development.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends in data science and technologies relevant to the energy sector.
  • Foster a collaborative data science culture by mentoring and supporting team members on tool developments and programming techniques.
  • Design and implement advanced analytics to extract patterns and trends from diverse datasets.
  • Engage with internal teams and external partners to support projects and stakeholder engagement.

Requirements:

  • Proven track record in process and/or tool development related to data-based processes.
  • Expertise in Python and SQL programming languages.
  • Experience using Power BI as a user interface for data analysis.
  • Familiarity with Azure cloud computing.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience working with incomplete datasets and conducting time series analysis.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of the energy industry dynamics and challenges is a plus.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in a relevant field such as Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, or Engineering.
