Position: Quantity Surveyor (Civils/Telecom)

Employment Type: 12-month contract (with possible 12-month extension)

Location: Dublin

Our client is a well established telecommunications company that looks after infrastructure for some of the world's best known tech and telecoms companies across the globe.

They are in need of a Fibre Network Design Engineer, with experience in GIS, to work on the FTTH rollout in Dublin for one of the UK and Ireland's largest telecommunications providers.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Reviewing project scopes and design packages to determine structural deliverables, support, and supplementary services.
  • Measuring quantities on sites through walkouts and conducting joint measurements with contractors.
  • Ensuring project works/sites are built within budget without compromising quality and conducting post-implementation reviews with project teams to maximize any commercial opportunity or advantage.
  • Managing subcontractors' contract obligations to ensure compliance.
  • Evaluating and approving subcontractor applications for payment.
  • Working with Project Managers to manage the subcontractor variation account, including evaluation and approval of subcontractor-submitted variations.
  • Evaluating and approving back charges from/to subcontractors.
  • Providing input into the production of:
    • Monthly commercial reports
    • Applications for payment to the client
    • Contract claims
  • Effectively communicating with the Project Manager/Director or the Commercial Director about any issues that may affect the cost, value, or margin of projects.
  • Placing subcontract orders to step down contractual terms and manage risk, including the placement of ITTs and ensuring notices and payments are made on time.
  • Dealing with contractual disputes and ensuring payment notices are in place and in line with current legislation.
  • Managing Final Accounts, including the assessment and timely submission of final accounts, providing regular updates to the client to ensure expectations are aligned.
  • Advising on and mitigating the effects of disputes by recognizing potential contractual issues on site and making good records, including photographs and written statements, to protect our interests.

What You'll Need for the Role:

Qualifications:

  • Degree/HND or HNC in Quantity Surveying or a similar commercial degree in construction.
  • RICS membership preferred.
  • CSCS or SafePass certification.
  • A full clean driving license.

Experience:

  • 1 to 3 years of experience working with a main contractor.
  • Experience with commercial building projects or large-scale civils projects.
  • Knowledge of telecoms network/utilities deployment is preferable.
  • Demonstrates good commercial and business acumen.
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills.
