Job Information

 

The position is TEMPORARY, employment will run from September 2024 to February 2025 (to be confirmed).

 

British Sugar is the leading Sugar supplier in the UK and one of the most efficient Sugar processors in the world. Partnering with over 2,400 growers to produce home grown sugar, supplying around 50% of the UK’s sugar market, we are proud to be building and supporting a Beet Sugar industry that works for Britain.

 

Main Scope of Operator Role

 

We receive upwards of 600 lorries a day, delivering sugar beet to our site seven days a week. The Weighbridge Operator is responsible for ensuring that all vehicles are correctly registered to our site, are authorised to deliver and correctly weigh in and out. The role operates on a 4 on/ 4 off shift pattern with 12.5hr Mon-Sat (05:45 – 17:15) and 8hr Sun (06:00 – 14:00) day shifts.

 

Whilst the weighing operation itself is carried out by the drivers, the role is strongly focussed on driver safety, compliance and communications. Working alongside the Beet Intake Team and Factory Operations Team to ensure all critical parameters are adhered to.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required

 

  • Strong safety awareness
  • Good IT knowledge
  • Experience of weighbridge operations is desirable
  • Good timekeeping and communication skills
  • A team player
  • Knowledge of Citrix applications, Force24 and Docusign is preferred but not essential as full training will be provided

To meet the desired criteria, applicants will need to act safely, have a passion to excel and be self-motivated with a high level of attention to detail. Other qualities the successful candidate will have, are to be hardworking, committed, flexible, enthusiastic and willing to develop in a production environment. 

Due to the requirement for effective teamwork, demonstrating respect and having pride in what you do with the team and customer in mind is essential, as well as possessing good communication skills.  A willingness to seek out, develop and support continuous improvement activities is also desirable.
