Blue Arrow Derby is proud to be working in partnership with UK's leading manufacturers of boilers, heat pumps & heating systems and they are looking to recruit a Tooling Maintenance Engineer to join their team.

Hours: Rotation of a 3-week shift pattern as below.

  • 5:45am - 2:15pm (Mornings)
  • 2:45pm - 11:00pm (Afternoons)
  • 11:15pm - 5:30am (Nights)

This is a full-time permanent role, but candidates will be paid an hourly rate (based off the different shift patterns and overtime) monthly.

What duties are involved in the Tooling Maintenance Engineer role?

  • Responsible for resolving breakdowns, carrying out preventative maintenance and improvements of Press tools, fixtures, and jigs across the site.
  • You will need to use your problem-solving skills to resolve issues seen on press tooling, fixtures, and jigs within production.
  • Complete tooling adjustments to allow different part variants to be run, as required in press tooling and special purpose machines.
  • Correction of tooling to ensure parts are kept in specification to engineering drawings, from pressed parts to clinched joints on special purpose machines.
  • Effectively identify day to day tooling issues and implement corrective action where required whilst ensuring the time management system is kept up to date for work carried out on each tool or job.
  • Ensure all tooling is safe and production ready at the time its returned for production, following a correct preventative maintenance (PM) process.
  • Follow up repair work by seeking feedback from the production and quality departments following production runs and completing a record of all the work undertaken.
  • You will be involved in small to large projects for improvements throughout the UK sites and new tooling designs or specialised equipment for working with metal.

What experience will you bring to the Tooling Maintenance Engineer role?

  • Previous experience as a Tooling Maintenance Engineer / relevant discipline and or previous experience in a press tooling manufacturer or maintenance of tools within a company.
  • An Understanding of press tooling for forming, cutting, or bending of metal.
  • Competent in using milling machine, lathe, surface grinder, bench grinder, etc and in equipment inspection instruments. (CNC programming ability would be seen as a positive extra but not essential)
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
  • Ability to follow and execute the preventative maintenance program.
  • Good interpersonal skills with 'hands on' problem solving expertise and a proactive approach to work.
  • Full Driving Licence.
