Willmott Dixon have an exciting new opportunity for a Assistant Proposals Manager to join our Construction Midlands team on a 12 month fixed term maternity contract.

You will support with first stage tenders and will be responsible for preparing high-quality bids that delight our customers. We are committed to truly understanding our customers' needs and developing sustainable solutions that are clearly articulated in customer-focused, attractive submissions. You will have a passion for construction and be able to demonstrate the skills and capabilities below:

Collaboration: support in assembling the team required for the Proposal, who will come from other departments and outside the business. You will be able to:

  • Support in Identifying and assembling the people needed to produce and win the bid
  • Support in agreeing individual roles and responsibilities.
  • Check progress and support bid team members.

Bid writing skills: You will be a bid writer and will make sure all the written content in the bid is clear and compelling by:

  • Owning individual answers (planning and scripting).
  • Briefing other bid writing contributors.
  • Checking the quality of other contributors' work and providing feedback and/or intervening.

Based from our Central Birmingham office. you will also be supported to work on a hybrid basis with home working at least 2 days per week.

Assistant Proposals Manager responsibilities include:

  • Enhance the quality of bids with clear, accessible written content.
  • Writing bespoke answers to customer questions
  • To communicate effectively and influence
  • Review and critique specialist authors' responses.
  • Writing and editing bid submissions into compelling and persuasive responses.
  • Ensuring the writing structure and words used in the proposal persuasively conveys the offer to the customer
  • Manage a varied workload with multiple conflicting deadlines.
  • Understand and include customer-focused sales messages and share with bid authors.
  • To identify risks and opportunities.
  • Manage multiple stakeholders across the Willmott Dixon business

Essential and Desirable Criteria

Essential:

  • Experience in a Bid writer role or in a role displaying significant written skills eg PR/journalism
  • InDesign experience
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong communicator

Desired:

  • A Level/Degree English Literature
  • Background utilising excellent writing skills e.g. Communications, PR, Journalism
  • Schedule (Resource/Time) Management Platforms
  • Photoshop/Illustrator
  • APMP foundation
