Support and Protect Social Worker

South Lakes with the office base in Kendal - up to Swarthmoor, Greater Langdale, Dent.
Approx. 22 / 23 children mix of assessment/CIN/ CP / Court

Social Worker required for a Support and Protect team based in Kendal but covering South Lakes area. We work up to Swarthmoor, Dent, Coniston, Greater Langdale.

We cover from assessment, through to Child in Need, Child Protection, Pre proceedings and Care Proceedings. However, we have a relatively low number of care proceedings. (Adoption work is undertaken in the adoption team)

There are 2 SAP teams based in Kendal, so we undertake one week of duty each when new assessments are allocated.

The team is made up of 5 Social Workers, 1 currently on maternity leave, with an average caseload of 22 / 23 children. We are a team of 5 permanent Social Workers, we have had an EWP covering 1 post since November 2022, sadly she is leaving us due to her own personal circumstances. We want someone to come in and complement our team, we have a really strong relationship with each other, and we are all team players, supportive and considerate as well as hard working. We have no current workers on condensed hours and at this stage this will not be considered. However, our work/life balance is good and there are still plenty of opportunities for home working. We are a team that supports students and ASYE's and we have an ASYE joining us in September which brings added capacity and different experience. We have free onsite parking at the office and around the area in council car parks. You will be joining a team of highly experienced workers who have all worked for the council for many years. You will be welcomed as a team member from day 1 😊
