The Role:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant with HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) responsibilities to join our fabulous client. The successful candidate will support students with special educational needs (SEN) across the school and take on additional responsibilities as an HLTA, delivering high-quality learning experiences and running interventions in phonics and maths.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students with special educational needs, ensuring they have access to the curriculum and can participate fully in school activities.
  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering lessons, with a particular focus on adapting materials and strategies to meet the needs of SEN pupils.
  • Lead small group sessions and interventions, focusing on literacy, numeracy, and social skills development.
  • Take on HLTA responsibilities, which may include covering classes, planning and delivering lessons in the absence of the class teacher, and leading extracurricular activities.
  • Collaborate with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment, promoting the well-being and self-esteem of all pupils.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers, parents, and the SENCO.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience working with children with special educational needs in a school setting.
  • HLTA qualification or willingness to work towards it.
  • Strong understanding of SEN strategies and interventions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
