Our client is a provider of engineering and construction services for the solar industry. During a scale-up phase in the UK, we are supporting with the recruitment of a Solar Project Manager. This is a great opportunity for candidates with C&I solar experience looking to gain experience in utility-scale projects.

This is a technical role but the ability to work with clients and interface seamlessly with an internal team is essential.

The candidate is expected to have, or if required, be willing to develop the required technical skills for the role such as site supervision/construction monitoring, tender support, PV plant design, energy assessments, etc.

The ideal candidate will have previously worked for an EPC or PV Developer and will probably have experience of UK PV projects or the UK market, but we are flexible regarding the level of previous experience since development support can be provided according to the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.

Responsibilities:

  • Development: provide technical support to Owners throughout the different project phases (feasibility studies, design, permitting, tendering, construction, commissioning).
  • Construction: an important part of your responsibilities will be on site. You will monitor construction, control quality and ensure construction works run smoothly and on time.
  • Cost: control internal costs to make sure projects are completed within budgets agreed with clients.
  • Coordinate: ensure coordination of the various project stakeholders (clients, external service providers, subcontractors, etc.).
  • Project administration: maintenance of client and project documentation, issue and review of project and technical reports.
  • Business development: attend industry events as required, receive and manage client support requests
  • Commercial: prepare and support leads and proposals.
  • Regulations/standards: be familiar with (or develop pre-existing understanding of) the main national and international standards applicable to PV plants in UK and propose any optimisation/adjustments to internal templates, methods and processes.

Requirements:

Education

  • Engineering graduate. Ideally electrical engineering however STEM qualifications considered.

Languages

  • Fluent in English. French is a plus.

Technical skills

  • Experience of PV project development, construction or operations. Knowledge of EPC and/or other related contracts. Previous experience in other construction activities will also be valued.
  • Strong engineering expertise; ideally electrical, but civil or structural engineering backgrounds considered.
  • Project management (APM / PRINCE 2 or equivalent qualifications highly regarded).
  • Good writing skills, ability to write technical reports and commercial offers.
  • Familiar with UK permitting for solar PV and energy storage projects.

Soft skills

  • Excellent communication skills. Ability to understand clients' needs and to communicate with a technical and non-technical audience.
  • Team spirit and ability to work in a multi-cultural / remote environment.
  • Rigorous in the follow-up of documentation, reviews, deadlines, quality and costs.
  • Logical thinker, able to follow (and contribute to) processes for workflow/workload optimisation.
  • Organised multitasker; able to manage several projects at the same time.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the UK and to France (and other countries in Europe if required).
