Our client, a prominent player in the marine sector, is currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their highly talented team. This permanent position is available for immediate start and offers a comprehensive benefits package for the right individual.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with engineering staff to create mechanical designs, including drive trains, electric motor assemblies, mounting hardware, electronics housings, test equipment, and production jigs, fixtures, and tooling.
  • Utilise CAD design tools such as SolidWorks to produce engineering information, including 3D models, assembly drawings, and detailed manufacturing drawings.
  • Apply geometric tolerances and dimensions to generate precise manufacturing information.
  • Perform simulations, analyses, and hand calculations to validate engineering designs.
  • Work closely with production and quality teams to transition products into full-scale production.
  • Prepare technical information to support procurement activities.
  • Maintain and update engineering drawings and documentation.
  • Assist in improving quality control, yield, and quality assurance processes.
  • Contribute to hazard analysis and risk assessment process improvement.
  • Occasional travel may be required.


Job Requirements:

  • Qualified to degree level in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in product development within an industrial, automotive, or marine setting.
  • Strong background in 3D CAD/CAM design, preferably with SolidWorks, but experience with any mainstream 3D CAD package is acceptable.
  • Proficiency in electro-mechanical packaging/enclosure design.
  • Able to perform design calculations based on engineering fundamentals; exposure to stress analysis (FEA) is beneficial but not essential.
  • Experience working with materials, including stainless steels and engineering plastics.
  • Understanding of marine industry standards and equipment.
  • Familiarity with both traditional and modern manufacturing techniques, including injection moulding, machining, sheet metal fabrication, and rapid prototyping.
  • Production engineering skills, including generating Bills of Materials, routings, assembly and installation instructions, and establishing manufacturing/assembly lines.
