Role: IT Solutions Architect

Role Type: Permanent

Office based: Hybrid (2 days a week)

Location: Stoke Gifford

Description:

The aim of the role 'IT Solutions Architect' is to be responsible for the overarching technical design of the IT services and the integration of the underlying components to ensure its overall integrity, confidentiality and availability of the service and data. The role requires engagement with the internal stakeholders to understand business directions and requirements, ensure security, and to design specific solutions. The role will also require engagement with other key stakeholders including Governance, DFAP, DfE, Government DDaT professionals and UCISA in the HE sector. In this role, the postholder may support SRU projects from time to time.

The key person attributes required to fulfil the role include; a passion for IT technology with technical depth but ability to see the big picture; excellent communication skills that underpin working with a variety of stakeholders supported by a positive solution focused mindset and good analytical/problem solving skills; comfortable working under pressure; ability to drive and demonstrate initiative that can be channeled into research and design; and adept at leading teams or projects.

Technical Skills:

- Knowledge of Systems Architecture, interfacing, middleware, services and message bus architecture.

- Knowledge of Cloud Systems and Cloud Security.

- Knowledge of systems monitoring, capacity planning tools and techniques (SIEM)

- Security principal standards.

- Data management and warehousing

- Local and wide area networking and network protocols including network virtualization.

- Systems hosting and management knowledge such as VMware.

- Knowledge of main stream IT vendors (Microsoft, Dell, HP)

Education: Degree level expertise in an ICT qualification (Bsc)

Vendor qualifications: MCP, MCSE, MOS, CCNP, CCDA. (Desirable)

Project Management: Prince2 or similar (Desirable)
