The Role: 

Ever wondered what it is like working for one of the worlds largest genetics companies? 

Due to continued growth within the UK and exports we are seeking a highly professional veterinarian to join Cogent Breeding in the role of UK Production Vet.

This role harnesses specialist bovine health and biosecurity knowledge and will ensure that excellent support is offered, whilst working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

- Deputy centre vet supervising responsibilities for CBL licensed sites

- Provide onsite clinical work, biosecurity advice, health test interpretation as required

- Providing technical guidance to colleagues and/or customers in matters of cow health and fertility

- Veterinary support for export & distribution depts – planning of country specific inventory and health testing requirements.

- Semen certification – export & domestic semen movements and vet support documentation

- On farm clinical examinations of new donor sires to include semen assessment where appropriate.

- Supervision of preentry process & veterinary liaison with breeder herds as per CBL protocols.

- Provide veterinary support to wider business and projects as required eg genetics and precision

- Deputise for Company Vet when absent or unavailable.

- Supervision of CBL staff with regard health testing and biosecurity SOP compliance

Essential Skills:

- Veterinary Surgeon Degree and Registered MRCVS

- Minimum of 2 years clinical farm experience

- Demonstrable experience of working within the agriculture industry 

- Advanced level knowledge of cattle fertility management, herd health and biosecurity procedures

- Ability to work with autonomy to make decisions

- Excellent prioritisation skills

- Positive attitude and desire to learn

- Due to locations, a Full driving licence is essential
