Abingdon School is a leading independent day and boarding school with around 1000 pupils aged 11-18.  The School is situated in 35 acres of beautiful grounds in the centre of Abingdon, just south of Oxford.

Duty Managers – The Role:

Abingdon School Enterprises Ltd (also known as Abingdon Sports and Leisure) are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, motivated and flexible candidate to assist with the operation of the sports facilities at Tilsley Park. Opportunities are available on either a full-time or part-time basis.

The Duty Manager is responsible for managing a small team and operating the facility in a safe and efficient manner at either Tilsley Park or Abingdon Sports Centre, ensuring that all politics and procedures are fully implemented. The health and safety of all customers is of paramount importance and regular training will be undertaken as required.

Duty Managers work as part of a team on a shift pattern and therefore some evening and weekend work will be necessary.

Duty Managers – Key Responsibilities:

Staff are responsible for a wide variety of duties which include:

- Customer liaison

- Lifeguarding (Sport Centre only)

- Assisting with school use and external bookings at both sites

- General administrative support

- Ensure day-to-day operations run smoothly

Duty Managers – You:

- Previous experience and professional qualifications in the sports/leisure industry is desirable

- Applications are encouraged from candidates who already hold a valid National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) or have the ability to qualify within two months of commencing employment (Sport Centre only)

- Strong customer service and administration skills with a good level of IT competency is essential
