Electronics Workshop Supervisor

We are looking for an experienced & competent Electronics Workshop Supervisor to work for a long-established and growing Engineering business in Liverpool.
The successful applicant will be a time served fitter/engineer and must have worked across a range of motors including AC & DC machines. You will have sound knowledge of electrical and electronic engineering and have worked as an electronics engineer including electric motor control panel fault finding and repair.
Reporting to the Works Manager for instructions on jobs, you will assist in the running of the Workshop, supervise and provide technical support to workshop operatives and ensure the highest level of quality is achieved on all jobs done by operatives.
You will be a working supervisor carrying out work on the jobs that come into the workshop on a day to day basis along with supervising the work of colleagues in the workshop. You will have key skills in one or more of the following activities: Servo motor repair, Control panel wiring, Control panel design and/or Electronics repair.
Duties will include:
- Inverter use and repair including installation, commissioning and programming;
- Assist and supervise on site on occasion;
- Ensure correct workshop procedures are being followed on shop floor;
- Allocate jobs to operatives and monitor progress including job times in line with quotation;
- Monitor and inspect work at key stages and prior to delivery, ensuring findings are recorded;
- Ordering materials and job bookings to appropriate clerk within normal hours;
- Ensuring training records for operatives are maintained;
- Deputise for Workshop Manager when required;
- Health & Safety: Ensure that PPE has been issued and that staff are using it correctly;
- Health & Safety: Ensure that the workshop is kept clean and tidy at all times;
- Health & Safety: Ensure that all equipment is kept in good working order and put away after use;
- Ensure that the calibration of measuring equipment is up to date;
- Customer/supplier correspondence, reports and costing where required, booking in of jobs;
- Attend site to cost or carry out site work as required by workshop workload;
Work is carried out mainly in the company’s Liverpool workshop and occasionally at client’s premises depending on circumstances, and consequently you will need a UK Driving Licence.
Working a basic 40 hour week, the company offer a competitive rate (totally negotiable!) with overtime paid at 1.5x, plus 5.6 weeks holiday per annum (including Bank Holidays, rising to 6.6 weeks after 2 years.
