Waste Collection Operations Manager



Salary: Competitive per annum plus performance bonus, company car/car cash allowance and pension

Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

Location: Tendring, Clacton on Sea, Essex

What you'll be doing;

  • To manage the refuse and recycling collections teams, circa 100 direct reports, along with the street cleansing service operators in a cost effective manner.
  • Ensuring that all services delivered by the contract operate in line with company policies, procedures, compliance and legislation requirements and customer satisfaction levels.
  • Manage the fleet and drivers to ensure legal compliance and reduce damage and defects.
  • Responsible for ensuring that your business unit/depot are legally and environmentally compliant at all times and that all planning and permitting conditions (where applicable) are strictly adhered to.
  • Responsible for compiling weekly and monthly statistical reports for the Contract Manager and Corporate Services, including attendance and missed collections.
  • Support the Contract Manager in delivering budgeted profit, operational excellence and safety measures for your individual business unit/depot.
  • Working in partnership with the client to resolve all contractual issues, to ensure that the Veolia brand is maximised and protected in the public domain.
  • Using the Echo system to report on performance, managing echo usage; ensuring adequate and efficient management of data obtained from the system.
  • Support the Contract Manager in delivering a safety culture that ensures that accident reporting is closed within one month and accidents are reduced.



What we're looking for;

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in waste or transport environment - essential.
  • CPC in Road Haulage & a valid UK driving licence - essential.
  • Good working knowledge of Health and Safety regulations.
  • Experience within municipal waste services.
  • Strong business acumen and financial management skills.
  • IOSH and COTC (where required).
