Experienced / ambitious Commercial Manager required to work with the team in the divisional office of this busy Tier 1 main contracting business, to take the commercial lead for 2-3 projects from preconstruction stages onwards to close out of final account and end of defects period.

Reporting to the Regional Commercial Director, and leading a team of Project Surveyors on multiple schemes, you will be fully responsible for commercial and contractual management of the schemes throughout preconstruction phase and throughout the works on site.

This will include:

• Ensuring your teams work to the company standards in all aspects and functions, demonstrating clear commercial leadership;
• Providing commercial support to all tendering and preconstruction activities as required;
• Managing procurement for projects through your teams and maintain positive supply chain relationships;
• Maximising cash flow through timely applications for payment and invoicing; manage effective cost control;
• CVR reports and forecasts within company reporting structures; minimise risk and maximise opportunity;
• Manage change control;
• Oversee administration of main contract;
• Oversee sub-contract administration;
• Ensure final accounting to close out projects efficiently;
• Identify and resolve issues;
• Effective management, training and development of commercial staff, enable progression where appropriate and encourage quality staff retention.

You will typically be responsible for 2-3 projects and commercial teams, with projects ranging from £25-45m in the secondary education schools and academies, higher education faculty buildings, commercial offices, high spec retirement homes and villages, leisure centres, data centres, MOD and MoJ sectors.

Locations are typically M3 / M4 corridors and South Coast / Hampshire, Berkshire, Wiltshire, Sussex.

Requirements including certificates and qualifications:

You will be degree qualified with a proven track record of experience and delivery in a similar role with a recognised main contractor.

Professional Membership of RICS or CIOB is desirable.

Experience of work for a leading Tier1 main contractor in several of the sectors noted above would be highly advantageous
