Key Responsibilities:
- Manage Section Operations: Oversee day-to-day operations of assigned sections, ensuring work is completed on time and within budget.
- Supervision: Provide leadership and guidance to site teams, including engineers, foremen, and operatives.
- Technical Oversight: Ensure all surfacing and asphalt works are carried out according to engineering specifications, standards, and best practices.
- Quality Control: Monitor and enforce quality control measures, conducting regular inspections to ensure compliance with design and safety standards.
- Coordination: Liaise with site managers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth project execution.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of progress, site activities, and compliance, including daily logs and reports.
- Problem Solving: Identify and resolve any issues or challenges that arise during the construction process.
- Experience: Demonstrable experience as a Section Engineer, with a focus on surfacing and asphalt works.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in using setting out equipment and relevant software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction methodologies, materials, and quality control processes in surfacing and asphalt.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead and manage teams effectively, especially in a night shift environment.
- Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across different teams.
- Certifications: Valid CSCS card and relevant engineering qualifications (e.g., HNC, HND, or degree in Civil Engineering or related field).
