Location: Greenwich
Position: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
Type: Full-Time - Monday to Friday - 8.30am-4pm
Sector: Special Educational Needs (SEN) – Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Complex Needs
Are you an experienced and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) with a passion for supporting secondary students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and complex needs? Do you thrive in a challenging yet rewarding environment?
About the HLTA Role:
We are seeking enthusiastic and committed HLTAs to join our partnered secondary SEN school that caters to students with ASD and complex needs. This full-time role provides a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the educational and personal development of our students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support class teachers in creating and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to the needs of students with ASD and complex needs.
- Lead small group sessions and interventions to provide targeted support.
- Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment that supports student well-being.
- Assist in the planning and execution of activities that promote social, emotional, and academic development.
- Monitor and report on student progress, maintaining accurate records.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to support student development.
- Provide guidance and support to other teaching assistants within the classroom.
HLTA Requirements:
- Experience working with secondary students with SEN, particularly ASD and complex needs.
- HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
- A patient, compassionate, and understanding approach.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Additional qualifications or training in SEN (desirable but not essential).
