£30,000 - £35,000/annum Car/Allowance + Pension + Healthcare

PSR are working with a leading Civil Engineering contractor who, after continued success, require an Assistant Planner to play a key part in their Pre-Construction team.

This is a great opportunity for an Assistant Planner, or someone looking to start a career in planning with construction delivery experience, as an Assistant Planner with my client you'll receive regular appraisals and be shown a clear career progression path.

Assistant Planner's Responsibilities

  • Involved in the full life cycle of projects, from inception to completion.
  • Provide planning support to the Senior Planner on projects in the region.
  • Assist with proactively ensuring that planning standards are maintained across all projects and planning & control procedures are adhered to.
  • Support site-based project teams with creating and managing short-term look ahead programmes, ensuring planning standards are maintained and risks and opportunities highlighted.
  • Support in the preparation of progress reports, and variance analysis.
  • Identifying programme delays and highlighting recoverable delays
  • Participate in project meetings and contribute to discussions on scheduling, sequencing, and resource allocation.
  • Report directly to the Senior Planner and will initially provide construction planning support for up to 8 live construction projects valued up to £5m.

Attributes as an Assistant Planner

  • Good understanding of construction sequencing and how a project comes together.
  • Computer literacy and the willingness to learn how to use multiple planning software packages are essential.
  • Experience using industry-standard software such as Primavera P6, AstaPower or Microsoft Project would be beneficial
  • Knowledge and experience of project delivery in the water industry would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge and experience of NEC forms of contract would be beneficial.
  • A construction-related qualification is preferable but not essential.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team environment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and deadlines
