I have started working on a new role with a reputable Engineering business in the Rochdale area and am looking for a Procurement Manager.

This could also an excellent opportunity for any Senior Buyers looking to take a step up in their career.

Business Overview:

An incredibly established Engineering business on a fantastic site steeped in history with  a healthy range of bespoke products in their portfolio. The business are very stable but are constantly striving to improve and grow which sees them develop new and innovative products annually to offer to their growing customer base.

Job Overview: Procurement Manager

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Suppliers: Identify, qualify, and onboard new suppliers based on cost, quality, risk, and delivery criteria.
  • Procurement: Lead contract negotiations and payment terms, create agreements, and ensure supplier contracts meet compliance guidelines. Manage supplier portfolio, evaluate supplier performance, and implement risk management strategies.
  • Operations: Oversee inventory management, stock reduction, warehousing, transportation, and order fulfillment. Ensure smooth operation of the ERP system.
  • Demand Planning & Forecasting: Develop and manage scheduling plans to control future demand, conduct forecasting, and optimize inventory levels to minimize stockout, obsolescence, and excess stock.
  • Management & Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with departments to develop internal purchasing processes, analyse global purchasing and commodity markets, maintain suppliers' master data, drive continuous improvement through data-driven analysis, and provide people management support.

Experience:

  • Proven experience in Procurement`/Buying/Supply Chain Management or as a Senior Buyer ready to take the next step.
  • Previous experience in an Engineering environment where you are working to Technical Drawings would be highly advantageous.
  • Demonstrated management, supervisory or leadership experience.
  • CIPS qualification and/or significant Supply Chain management experience would be highly advantageous.
  • Track record of delivering target improvements, cost savings, process enhancements, and aligning strategic plans.
