Our client is currently experiencing a prolonged period of extensive growth due to high demand in the market.

They are currently seeking to appoint a Buyer to work in their busy Stoke on Trent plant.

The site is a modern, state of the art facility, offering a clean and pleasant environment where the wellbeing of the employees is paramount.

This role reports to Procurement Manager Indirect Spend and is based in the UK though occasional travel to Europe may be required.

Main duties

• Ensure competitive and reliable sourcing of materials, services and equipment for the assigned purchasing portfolio for several plants in several countries and with an international sourcing perimeter.
• Ensure an overall total cost of ownership in order to ensure optimum, uninterrupted and timely sourcing & supply and identify & implement opportunities short to long term, including sustainability considerations
• Implement adequate sourcing strategies and contracting, with a short to long term approach, to meet business KPI’s
• Negotiate and contract with suppliers
• Ensure proper implementation of contracts, evaluation of suppliers and that Purchasing process' and rules are followed
• Ensure compliant and cost-effective processes’ deployment, in particular an efficient Purchase to Pay process and Sourcing & Contracting.

Requirements

• Ideally with a Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing or Business or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years’ professional experience.
• Strong negotiation skills with the necessary commercial and communication skills.
• Any expertise in the chemical or process industry is advantageous.
