Nine Twenty Engineering & Manufacturing are proud to be working in Partnership with The North British Distillery with an exciting new role for a Project Automation Lead to join their Distillery in Edinburgh.  

You will have the chance to work with one of Scotland's oldest and largest Scotch grain whisky producers. The North British Distillery is known for its distillation and maturation processes, producing grain spirit, which serves as the base for blended whisky.

The site is going through some significant investment, refurbishment and upgrades - as a Project Automation Lead you will be part of the team delivering key projects to help modernise the site and achieve its sustainability goals. You will be a lead in the development and delivery of transformational process improvements involving process control and automation management, maintenance & development of reliable process controls systems across all sites whilst leading a small team.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with Company Health and Safety requirements and current legislation.
  • Maintain awareness of regulatory and Company standards (H&S, COMAH, Environment, HMRC, FEMAS, ISO9001).
  • Comply with the Site Emergency Response Plan and participate in COMAH improvement activities.
  • Maintain, optimize, and troubleshoot existing process control systems (SCADA, PLCs, control networks).
  • Provide process automation control support to Operations and Engineering departments.
  • Provide process automation control support at the Muirhall Site as required.
  • Develop and implement business processes for changes to process control systems.
  • Collaborate with teams to design and implement process control system solutions/projects.
  • Manage relationships with external control system service providers, ensuring issue resolution and cost control.

Experience required:

  • Minimum Degree qualified in Controls Systems / Software Engineering or similar discipline
  • Advanced PC Skills - Formula and graphs in excel, import photographs in PowerPoint, high standard of document production and report writing
  • Hands-on software programming experience, preferably on an industrial FMCG facility
  • Significant knowledge on industry leading PLC and SCADA systems – particularly Rockwell / Allen Bradley and GE
  • Significant experience of the integration of IT/OT systems
  • Experience of Prince 2 or APM Project Methodologies
