Managing Quantity Surveyor

Join our client as a key member of their management team, ensuring the successful financial completion of multiple challenging construction projects from contract award through to completion.

You will work on a £62m New Build project for the Emergency Department & Critical Care Unit at Dorchester County Hospital. The contract type is NEC3 Option C.

You will lead and supervise project commercial teams within the South West Regional Building Division.

What You Will Be Doing

~Managing subcontract procurement by quantity surveyors
~Commercially managing subcontractor accounts from site commencement to negotiation and final account agreement
~Ensuring timely certification and payment of subcontractors
~Reviewing and managing monthly cost value reconciliation reports
~Reviewing monthly cost and value to complete forecasts for projects
~Reviewing and negotiating final accounts
~Advising on procurement issues
~Managing cost and risk
~Providing commercial and contractual support and advice to management teams
~Contributing to customer care for all project stakeholders
~Promoting a positive image of the company to protect and enhance the brand
~Motivating team members to ensure their commitment and support, optimising their project input
~Leading team development for individual and company benefit
~Developing supply chain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors for project benefit
~Contributing to business continuity processes
~Leading a small team of surveyors

What We Need From You

~Qualification at HND level (or equivalent qualification)
~BSc Degree in Quantity Surveying
~Comprehensive experience in a similar position with a medium to major size Civil Engineering Contractor
~Relevant experience on challenging and diverse projects with major clients such as the NHS, DFE, MOD, DOI, MOJ
~Experience in dispute documentation – adjudication/legal
~Sound commercial/contractual knowledge
~Experience using NEC family of contracts
~Experience working on a Framework or in a collaborative environment
~Valid CSCS card
~Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
~Further professional qualification
~Contacts at senior level in appropriate client organizations
~Good interpersonal and communication skills

~Strong attention to detail
~Strong team-working skills
