Hays Recruitment are proud to be supporting an Ofsted rated "Good" single form entry primary school in Widnes that is easily accessible via public transport as they are looking to recruit a reliable and experienced level 3 qualified teaching assistant to support across KS1 (key stage 1). This is a long-term contract starting from September.

Your new role
In your new role as a teaching assistant within this school, you will be supporting in the Year 1 and 2 classes. Your day will be split into two halves, supporting the year 1 class in the morning and year 2 class in the afternoon. Your mornings will have a focus on speech and language, offering phonics and guided reading sessions to year 1 pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis. In the afternoon you will be holding intense intervention and booster sessions and behaviour management with the year 2 class. Both classes are relatively small and have pupils of varying ability, whereas the year 2 class has a small number of SEN pupils with moderate ADHD and dyslexia, which will require additional support. Throughout the school day you will actively encourage your pupils to take part and give input during lessons, which will in turn build a strong constructive relationships, and ensure that all pupils reach their full academic potential.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered in your application you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK and an NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, as well as:

  • Experience working with children between the ages of 5 - 7
  • Experience holding phonics sessions and assessments
  • The ability to lead on intervention and booster sessions
  • Expert knowledge of KS1 (key stage 1) curriculum
