Financial Accountant 

Liverpool 

£60,000 £65,000 per annum 

Full time office based in central Liverpool

This role centres around supporting the Director of Finance. You will be the companies lead for all employee and benefits costs matters, VAT and duty accounting, credit card receipts. You will play a key role in improving processes and systems.

How you will deliver

You will be an integral part of the team in one of the most famous jewellery businesses in the UK. You will be responsible for a range of tasks to support the running of the business.

-  Employee costs and benefits, 

• Working with payroll bureau, pay all employees and payroll taxes accurately and on time and prepare all end of tax year returns and reporting accurately and on time.
• Act as company administrator for the pension plan.

VAT and duty, 

• Preparation of compliant VAT and duty returns and on time payment of amounts due.  

Month and Year-end

• Robust review and reconciliation of balance sheet and profit and loss accounts, preparing variance analysis and commentaries.
• Closing off period end and year end in Sage X3 to company timetables including resolving errors.

Credit Card Receipts

• Robust review and reconciliation of credit card receipt control accounts to ensure that all money due is received, the balance sheet is fairly stated and that fees are correctly accounted for.
• Provide commentary and analysis on credit card fees for management accounts.

Annual Audit 

• Act as POC for the company’s external auditors and tax advisors.
• Prepare financial statement notes and disclosures.
• Prepare analysis to support preparation and filing of corporation tax returns.

Other

• ONS and similar returns other than monthly sales.
• Lead on process and system improvements.
• Other duties as required.

Your Skills & Experience

• Qualified accountant with ACA/ACCA preferred (finalists with a strong exam and career record)
• At least 2 years industry experience
• Able to work at pace and able to balance and meet different priorities and demands
• Very high degree of attention to detail and accuracy
• Polished, professional and confident as befits an award-winning luxury retailer.
