The Opportunity

We now have an excellent opportunity for a Trainee Fitter to join our Torr Quarry, near Shepton Mallet. You’ll be based at one of Europe's largest super quarries where supported by our experienced engineers you’ll become an essential member of the team.

You’ll be part of our Day Shift, where you’ll get hands-on experience in our fixed workshop as well as attending reactive breakdowns in the quarry surroundings.

Your shift will be 4on 4off rotating between 05:00-17:00 & 10:30-22:30. If your shift falls into the weekend then these are adjusted to 06:00-18:00 (with a 09:30 Saturday start should you be on the afternoon shift.)

You’ll attend reactive maintenance around site to various equipment such as Crushers, Screeners & conveyor systems, mainly focusing on the primary conveyor uphill system, capable of tonnages of 2000 tonnes per/hour, alongside the processing and handling equipment involved - Primary, secondary stone crushers, conveyor chutes, vibrating multi deck screens.

You’ll work on PPM’s to help keep our equipment operational.

With a focus on Health & Safety across our business this role is no different, you’ll carry out all repairs safely and continue to maintain a hazard free environment.

 

Who you are

You’ll already be working towards a career in engineering so will have some hands on experience as a mechanic, assembly technician or in a production/ manufacturing environment.

You’ll either hold or aspire to gain your NVQ Level 2/3 in an engineering discipline.
