Are you passionate about making a positive impact on children’s education and social development? Do you have the relevant skills and experience to work 1:1 with a pupil who needs additional provision in order to engage and progress? We have an amazing opportunity in one of our local mainstream primary schools, situated in Bournemouth, to work as a part-time teaching assistant, supporting a child with special educational needs (SEN). The school are seeking an individual who is confident, adaptable and nurturing, with a resilient personality able to support the challenging needs displayed, and ultimately form a positive rapport with the pupil.


Position: Teaching Assistant with SEN Experience


Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with teaching staff to implement individualised education plans (IEPs) for a pupil.
  • Provide one-on-one support to children from Key Stage 1 with special educational needs.
  • Foster an inclusive classroom environment so that the pupil feels included in lessons
  • Collaborate with the SENCO and other professionals to assess and address the unique needs of pupil when needed.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a teaching assistant, ideally with SEN experience, or similar roles supporting challenging behaviour/ needs.
  • Understanding of diverse learning needs and effective strategies for support.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with students with special needs.

To work with GSL Education, you must:

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
  • Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education
