Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as Lead / Principal Design HSE engineer on projects and proposals
  • Ensure technical quality and adherence to programme and cost targets
  • Perform Design HSE tasks and supervise junior engineers as needed
  • Assist the Chief Design HSE Engineer with resource planning
  • Monitor and report design progress and man-hour usage
  • Collaborate proactively with multi-disciplinary project delivery teams
  • Ensure Design HSE integration into overall engineering design
  • Support the Chief Design HSE Engineer in technical development of the function
  • Provide Design HSE advice and support to colleagues and subordinates


Job Requirements:

  • Degree in a process-related discipline
  • Chartered Engineer and member of a relevant engineering institution (e.g., IChemE)
  • Significant knowledge and experience in Design HSE / Technical Safety for the UK onshore market
  • Background in engineering consultancy or contracting design
  • Operational experience is advantageous
  • Experience in the full project lifecycle: scoping, outline design, detailed design, construction support, commissioning, and handover
  • Proficiency in applying relevant industry codes, standards, and guidelines
  • Experience in technical safety engineering definitions including consequence analysis, risk assessments, and hazardous area classification
  • Knowledge of PHAST, DSEAR/Hazardous area classification, risk assessments, Hazard Studies, LOPA / SIL assessment
  • Good communication skills
  • Experience with hydrogen is advantageous
