Hamilton Woods Engineering is working with a leading advanced automation and real-time business intelligence company specialising in Automation, Control and IT Solutions and Services with major customers in the Nuclear, Energy & Infrastructure and Transmission & Distribution markets. The Company is renowned for its innovation, technical excellence, and project delivery, quality and safety

Summary of Role:

Modification of existing control systems held under support contracts and project work. We are looking for an engineer with experience of using Beckhoff control systems. Additional system technology includes Siemens PLC/SCADA. This role is predominantly based at their office out of their customers site with remote working opportunities.

Role Description:

  • Development of PLC and/or SCADA system design and options from customer requirements
  • PLC programming of control systems and configuration of SCADA from developed or given designs
  • Involvement throughout whole software/systems lifecycle, from design through coding to testing, installation and configuration, and documentation (working throughout to full QA procedures) specifically production of design specifications and Test Specifications
  • Installation and configuration/testing work at customer sites
  • Working within project team to customer deadlines

Essential Requirements:

  • Engineering / Computer related or appropriate engineering qualification (degree/HND) or comparable industrial experience
  • Good client facing skills, must be able to work as part of combined client/contractor team
  • Experience of producing design documentation and Test Specifications
  • Willingness to travel and work away when required
  • Beckhoff TwinCAT 3 PLC programming - IEC (phone number removed) Structured text.
  • Familiarity with Unit testing.
  • Agile working methodology.
  • Version control software (Git).
  • Must be able to attain UK Security Clearance
  • Driving licence

Desirable Requirements/experience:

  • 3 years' experience expectation to fulfil requirements of this post
  • Knowledge of project lifecycle
  • PLC system design, coding, testing and commissioning
  • SCADA system design, configuration and commissioning
  • Experience of working in the Nuclear Industry
