Transport Admin

Are you ready to take charge of a dynamic transportation team? Are you interested in learning more about managing logistics operations and ensuring the smooth flow of goods?

Our established client based near Sealand Road, Chester is seeking a motivated and highly organised Transport Administrator join their team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make your mark, learn the ropes of Transport Planning and progress to a managerial role over time for the right candidate.

Job Type: Full-time Temp to Perm 40 hours a week (Temp for 12 weeks)

Pay: £12.50ph (£26,000.00)

Schedule: Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate to Chester, CH1 (No more than a 35 minute commute)

Responsibilities:

- Supervise Daily Operations: Oversee the day-to-day activities of our client's transportation team, ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of goods.

- Fleet Management: Monitor and manage their fleet of vehicles, ensuring they are maintained, serviced, and compliant with safety regulations.

- Scheduling and Dispatching: Create and manage schedules for drivers, optimising route planning and resource allocation.

- Compliance and Safety: Ensure all transportation activities adhere to legal and safety standards. Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions.

- Customer Service: Book deliveries with customers and address any transportation-related issues promptly and professionally.

- Cost Control: Monitor and control transportation costs, including fuel, maintenance, and labour, to stay within budget.

- Reporting: Prepare regular reports on transportation operations, including delivery performance, vehicle utilisation, and costs.

- Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service quality.

Qualifications:

- Experience: Ideally some experience in transportation or logistics, however experience working within a high traffic, fast paced admin role in a warehouse or logistics environment would be suitable too.

- Skills: Strong organisational and multitasking abilities, effective communication and interpersonal skills, proficiency in transportation management software such as shopfiy, Easy Routes and Google Sheets is an advantage but can be trained

Microsoft Office Suite, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.

- Certifications: Valid driver's licence

HGV licence advantageous but not essential. Transport Manager CPC advantageous but not essential.

Working Conditions:

- Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm with a one-hour break.
