Calderdale Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Social Worker to join our Fostering Team. This vital role involves assessing, training, and supporting foster carers to ensure the best outcomes for children and young people in foster care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster Carer Recruitment and Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments of prospective foster carers, ensuring they meet the necessary standards and requirements.
  • Training and Development: Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for foster carers to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Support and Supervision: Offer regular support and supervision to foster carers, addressing any issues or concerns and ensuring the well-being of children in their care.
  • Placement Matching: Work collaboratively to match children with suitable foster carers, ensuring the best possible fit for each child's needs.
  • Multi-Agency Collaboration: Collaborate with other professionals and agencies to provide coordinated support and services for foster carers and children.
  • Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and reports, supporting the effective management and oversight of foster placements.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker: Must be a registered Social Worker with a recognized qualification.
  • Experience: Proven experience in fostering, child protection, or a related field.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and best practices in fostering and social work.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with foster carers, children, and professionals.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Resilience: Ability to handle challenging situations with professionalism and empathy.
