Health & Safety Manager - Chemicals Manufacturing - £45-50k - Wigan

My client runs a lower-tier COMAH chemicals plant in the Wigan area, specialising in the manufacture of resins and polymers. They're looking for a Health & Safety Manager to join their safety team, consisting of a Process Safety Manager and an Environmnetal Specialist.

Your role will be to take ownership of the Health & Safety management systems and to promote and implement a positive safety culture onsite. You will get involved in a variety of improvement projects and will have a real say in how the company improves its' safety standards.

A few responsibilities are listed below;

  • Management, implementation, and communication of the management systems (45001)
  • Accident and incident investigations, identifying countermeasurers, and risk management
  • Organise any required H&S training programmes for relevant site personnel
  • Assist the Process Safety team in process hazard assessments (PHA, HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA etc) required under COMAH
  • Manage the sites' COSHH assessment process, including carrying out such assessments
  • Liaise with external regulators and authorities

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Health & Safety Manager, or even someone earlier in their career looking to take on more responsibility. You'll have the opportunity to influence and improve health and safety, working with a team committed to ensuring standards are always kept high.

You'll need experience in a chemicals manufacturing and/or COMAH regulated environment with at least 4/5 years in a health & safety specific role. Outside of the usual benefits, the company offers private healthcare, a 35 hour working week, and a variety of other benefits.
