As a Senior Advanced Electronic Design Engineer here at Honeywell, you will be responsible for leading and actively participating in the design, development, and testing of advanced electronic systems used in science and telecoms satellites and deep space probes. You will collaborate cross-functionally to define system requirements and specifications and ensure the efficient, timely completion of electronic engineering projects. You will report directly to our Engineering Manager and you’ll work out of our Edinburgh, Scotland location on a hybrid work schedule.

In this role, you will have a significant impact on the development of cutting-edge electronic systems that power innovative solutions in the space industry. Your technical expertise and leadership will contribute to the success and growth of our business.

Senior Advanced Electronic Design Engineer responsibilities

·         From top level customer specifications:

                 o    Develop sub-system specifications

                 o    Develop designs to meet sub system requirements

                 o    Provide analysis to support these designs including Worst Case, Part Stress and Failure Mode

                 o    Provide development of robust and highly reliable designs and carry out trade off analysis to produce innovative, cost effective solutions.

·         Provide technical contributions to bid proposal work.

·         Realise design into compliant working solutions

·         Assisting in maintaining and developing design standards and supporting continual improvement

·         Be the design authority for digital design element of the product

Qualifications

·         Degree qualified in electronics or related subject and working knowledge practicing in a technical environment.

·         Digital electronic design experience, as well as off the shelf analogue and digital integrated circuits.

·         Experience in the design; development & programming of FPGA solution.

·         Experience of working with recognised design tools ie. MENTOR.

·         Understanding of standard electronics Test & Measurement equipment.

·         Ability to turn designs in to working prototype solutions.

·         Previous experience of designing electronics for space flight would be advantageous.
