Job Summary

To assist the Quality and Technical team in implementing food safety, quality, and hygiene systems across the site. Provide competent and efficient technical administrative support to both internal and external customers.

To maintain site compliance against the set legal, hygiene and customer standards.

To trend, identify and communicate deviations from the standards against the systems.

Teamwork

·       Support other Quality / Technical team members regarding issues as they arise.

·       To work closely with members of other teams throughout the company

·       Actively assist others to find solutions to problems.

·       Contribute ideas and solutions to improve the team’s service delivery.

·       To cover for the QA Technician in their absence and support them in tasks.

Communication

·       Communicate with other relevant departments within the company, at all levels.

·       Share information with the team.

·       Keep the Technical Manager informed regarding any issues.

·       Competent in using different platforms of communication such as teams, email, telephone, written correspondence, and online customer databases.

Strategic

·       To understand the importance of HACCP and to work closely with colleagues throughout the business to ensure that we, at all times, maintain the necessary standards.

·       With guidance from the Technical Manager and/or the Technologist, ensure that, in all customer complaint correspondence, a professional image of the company is portrayed.

·       To assist the team with ad hoc projects i.e., process validation, launch of new products etc. 

Analytical

·       Ensure that all documentation is completed in a timely and accurate fashion.

·       Embrace the QMS system and use this as a tool for continual improvement.

·       To trend data, to report any out of ordinary spikes in complaints, micro or quality issues.

 Responsibilities & Expertise

·       To actively promote a safe culture, ensuring all Health & Safety requirements are met.

·        Administration of complaints database. Ensure complaint investigations address the root cause and liaise with the QA Manager to ensure there are no overdue investigations.

·       Perform traceability and trend data

·       KPI reporting - Analyse technical KPI (micro, physical grades, complaints etc.) info and flag up adverse trends to the Technical Manager ensuring improvement actions are agreed and documented for all adverse trends.

·       Audit and maintain quality assurance records. Example: Production records, hygiene check sheets, Certificates of Analysis

·       Assist QA/Technical Manager in keeping documentation up to date in line with legislation.

·       To step up and cover in the absence of the QA Technician or Technologist.

·       To maintain an up-to-date calibration schedule for all equipment in use for monitoring product safety, legality, and quality.

·       To ensure systems used in production are working, for example weighing systems, magnets, intact grading sieves, CCP validation protocols, swabbing protocols, and testing procedure is executed

·       Hygiene audits, factory swabbing. This will include some work on Sundays during the active herb season between May and November.

·       To order consumables (such as laboratory consumables) as and when required

·       Member of the site HACCP and TACCP/VACCP teams guiding best practices from subject area research

·       Complete internal audits. Examples: Systems, procedures, Pest control, Glass, Packaging, Critical Control Points, etc.

·       Logging of micro and shelf-life analysis. If outside limits, then ensure appropriate action is taken.

·       Technical support for customers - Completion of SAQ’s, specifications and other technical information for customers

·       Data maintenance – product codes and batches

·       Keep QMS documentation up to date and improve where needed.

·         Maintain pesticide list.

·         Provide information to technologists based on customer requests.

·       Any other projects or tasks required by the business.

Compliance

·       Always maintain site compliance to QMS.

·       Personally comply with all policies, procedures, and risk assessments relevant to the role and industry responsibilities.

Qualifications and Experience

·       Preferably holding a recognised qualification in Food Science related subject

·       Minimum Level 2 Food Safety training and HACCP

·       Understanding of Microbiology and hazards

·       Strong attention to detail

·       The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

·       Minimum of 3 years experience within a quality or technical role in the Food Manufacturing Industry

·       Good level of PC literacy

·       Proactive attitude

·       Ability to remain calm under pressure; Excellent written and oral communication in the English language.

·       Able to work on own initiative but also as part of a team.
