And right now, we’re looking for a Head of Maintenance & Reliability. Based at our Capenhurst Site location you’ll lead the delivery by defining, developing, and implementing the Site Service model for the Maintenance & Reliability portfolio in a safe, compliant, and reliable manner to deliver the Urenco growth strategy at Capenhurst—across Enrichment, Chemical Processing, Decommissioning & Waste, and Group Projects. This is inclusive of people/culture, processes, and systems/plants. The Head of Maintenance & Reliability will be accountable for providing a range of maintenance and reliability services that support the efficient and effective operation of: the Capenhurst site as a whole operational business units and other activities that are conducted on site, be they established or new.


What will your day look like?

• Ensure safe and compliant delivery of the Site Services.
• Responsible for License Condition
• Responsible for legal responsibilities related to:
• Safety Case Owner of:
- Plant Ancillaries Workshop
- B700
- Package Movements
• Act as nominated deputy for Director of Site Services Lead and develop an aligned, cohesive, and integrated framework and operating model on how Maintenance and Reliability Services are planned, prioritised, co-ordinated and delivered across the Capenhurst site (key activities described below).
• Develop and implement a framework along with the management systems/arrangements and systems required.
• Establish and manage the Maintenance and Reliability team working in a matrix approach across the Capenhurst Site lead by providing clear direction and alignment to enable the team to deliver against objectives to support operations and activities on site.
• Manage the team by flexing capacity to meet demand and with appropriate resourcing strategies (e.g. make versus buy approach) to ensure core capability and capacity is maintained
• Ensure the development and implementation of a Training and Qualification Program as applicable to the Maintenance and Reliability workforce (employees, agency workers, & contractors).
• Ensure the culture & behaviours within the team align with that of the wider Capenhurst to create an engaged workforce and an improved worker experience.
• Member of the Site Service Management Team expected to share ideas to improve the ways of working and the working environment.
• Collaborative working cross functionally across the Site Services Team and various Business Centres/Group Projects will be essential to safe, compliant, and reliable delivery of the Site’s objectives.
• Establish and ensure proactive engagement and consultative decision-making routes related to delivery of the Maintenance and Reliability services.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure an optimal Capenhurst Site
• Maintenance of various assets for the entire site to
- Refrigeration
- Cranes and Transport
- Life critical systems
- Safety and security systems
- Building structures
• Operation and maintenance of utilities supplies (e.g. electrical distribution)
• Provide facilities management services and maintenance
• Planning and scheduling
• Management and operation of the:
- Site Effluent Treatment Plant (impacts environmental license)
- Site Recycling Centre
• Ensure a focus and delivery of a strong Reliability culture within Maintenance and Reliability
• Deliver minor works projects in line with site processes and procedures
• Key interfaces include working aligned and collaboratively with the GPO of Maintenance, Group Asset Management, and other UTD/Group functions as required.
• Define KPIs and performance metrics both for delivery as well as system/process health across Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and People (SQCDP) to inform data-based decision making
• Accountable for the development, management, and performance against the Maintenance and Reliability budget. Prepare, manage, and update all funding requests within the appropriate process (e.g. opex or capex).
• Develop for the site with the support of Procurement, HR, and Group Projects a strategic resourcing strategy for the business-as-usual operations and investment portfolio. (e.g. central repairs capability)
• Ensure assets and associated information within the Maintenance & Reliability portfolio are safe, compliant, functional, and within design intent.
• Ensure that Group standards/expectations, local health, safety and environmental guidelines and directives are implemented and understood. Manages in alignment to the Site Safe Systems of Work processes.
• Standardise the Asset Management and Reliability framework for the Capenhurst Site.

What do you need to be great at this role?

• Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field or significant experience in lieu of qualification.
• Project Manager or other relevant certifications.
• Demonstrable strong leadership skills that inspire commitment and enthusiasm from colleagues both within and outside of the team should be under experience
• Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
• Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, scheduling, human resources modelling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
• The ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events)
• Using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
• Extensive experience in maintenance and reliability management of which sufficient time in a leadership role.
