Arboricultural Officer

Location: Congleton, CW12 1RG

Full Time: 40 hours per week

We are working alongside a market leader in the highways industry to recruit a Arboricultural officer.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Arboricultural officer will be required to manage and carry out inspections on highways assets. In this role, you are also responsible for responding to enquiries and requests for service and engaging with various stakeholders.

As an Arboricultural officer, you will identify and order highway green operations maintenance works in accordance with policy, contract requirements and the business plan. You will work as part of a team to achieve a high level of customer service and ensure that the highway network is safe for all users, contributing to the company’s overall business objectives.

The Role

  • Manage the Cheshire East Highways tree inspection programme and support staff in line with the Cheshire East Highways Tree Risk Management Strategy.
  • Perform and accurately report tree Inspections and Service Inspections across the Cheshire East road network as set out in the Inspection Schedule.
  • Perform walked and driven inspections working alone and alongside others.
  • Receive enquiries and requests for service for a geographical area of the borough. Carry out inspections and investigations as required in order to determine the appropriate response or action required. 
  • Consider options and provide appropriate outcome for each enquiry in accordance with current policies, strategies, business plan and customer journey.
  • Meet with customers on site to discuss highway maintenance or highway related matters.  Conduct such meetings in a courteous manner and explain any technical issues clearly.  Manage expectations but consider what action might be appropriate, balanced with policy and budget considerations.
  • To record and upload inspection and photographic files to the asset management system.
  • Identify issues of concern to residents and stakeholders in each inspection area.
  • Provide information to the Local Highways Officers relating to highway issues, condition, improvement.
  • Work closely with the operations team to ensure highway assets are maintained to the appropriate standard and within prescribed timescales.

Role Requirements

  • RCF Level 6 Arboriculture (e.g. BSc. RFS Professional Diploma, LANTRA, Professional /Tree Inspection).
  • QTRA registered.
  • A full UK driving licence is essential.
  • Excellent verbal and good written communication skills are essential.
  • Experience of dealing with service users, sometimes difficult or angry, in a face to face environment, by telephone and in writing essential.
