Pipe Fitter/Plumber

Location: Primarily North West England, with occasional travel

£19.50 per hour (umbrella rate, PAYE rate also available)

Immediate start

Temporary to permanent option

Role subject to enhanced DBS

Our client is a successful building services company predominantly in M&E but also construction and facilities management based in Liverpool.  Due to successful project bids, they are hugely expanding their service and are looking for numerous pipe fitters to join their team working mainly in schools and hospitals across the North West.

As a pipe fitter your role will be:

Interpretation and Fabrication:

  • Interpret drawings and specifications to plan and execute pipe fitting and plumbing tasks.
  • Fabricate pipework using various materials such as mild steel, copper, and stainless steel.

Welding and Installation:

  • Proficient in MIG/TIG and Stick welding techniques.
  • Install heating bracketry pipework, mount radiators, fan convectors, and other plumbing fixtures.

Assembly and Inspection:

  • Utilise hand tools, power tools, and cordless battery tools for component assembly.
  • Inspect fabricated parts for accuracy and quality defects.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Adhere to safety procedures when operating tools and equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with CSCS requirements and possess a full clean Enhanced DBS for working on sensitive sites like schools and government buildings.

General Responsibilities:

  • Work independently and efficiently, demonstrating strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during installation or fabrication.
  • Represent the business professionally in customer interactions.

Requirements:

  • Experience in both pipe fitting and plumbing.
  • Proficiency in MIG/TIG and Stick welding preferred.
  • Full set of own tools and cordless battery tools.
  • Valid driving license and reliable transportation.
  • CSCS certification.
  • Willing to undertake Enhanced DBS.
  • Willingness to occasionally work away from the main location.

Desired Qualities:

  • Ability to work independently and think on your feet.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Prior experience in hospital and school refurbishment projects.
