Are you a Psychology Graduate looking to kick-start your career and gain valuable experience within the health care industry?

We are currently recruiting Psychology Graduate Support Workers to participate in our 2 year Psychology graduate programme at our two psychiatric hospitals (The Langford Centre, Bexhill on Sea and Glenhurst Lodge, Maidstone).

In this unique role you will work as a Psychology Graduate Support Worker, working directly with patients on the wards, providing the highest possible standards of care to vulnerable adults with complex and challenging needs to maximize their independence, and to help them to live a meaningful and fulfilling life.

While the role is largely ward-based, as part of the nursing team, you will also be involved in the provision of psychology within the hospital, and you will gain experience in co-facilitating groups, psychological treatment planning, and attending reflective practice groups as well as psychology-led supervision.

The Graduate Programme

Bramley Health's 2 Year Psychology Graduate Training Programme will provide you with the experience, knowledge and skills needed to progress your career in Psychology. This will give you experience in:

A structured therapy such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) Training or Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills based Training.

  • Mindfulness skills
  • Working therapeutically with patients with challenging behaviour
  • Group facilitation skills
  • Peer group supervision
  • Culture of a ward / care home from a psychological perspective Working with lead/senior psychologists
  • This programme also allows graduates to gain experience by creating
  • Positive Behavioural Support Plans
  • aiding in the formulation process
  • conducting psychometrics
  • co-facilitating mindfulness
  • psychotherapeutic groups.

We aim to provide valuable experience of both working on a ward, and being part of the psychology team, and we hope that this will be a stepping stone towards further psychology posts and an ongoing psychology career. This will be supported by a reference from a qualified psychologist as appropriate.

Some aspects of the training will be certificated from an external organisation (such as the Association for Psychological Therapies). There will be proof of attendance from Bramley Health for the other aspects of the training.
