We are looking for a Head Chef, to work 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, at the Langford Centre Mental Health Hospital, based in Bexhill on Sea.

The aim of this role is to deliver a high standard of catering for up to 73 service users, while adhering to food hygiene standards.

Key responsibilities of the Head Chef position include:

• Cooking fresh produce on a day to day basis
• Organise, plan and implement budget for the day to day menu
• training and supervision of junior kitchen staff
• Monitoring the safety of all kitchen equipment used
• Upkeep of all stock cupboards on a weekly basis
• individual's specific dietry requriements to be effectively considered and met
• effective cleaning and organising of the kitchen and food preparation areas, including all equipment and utensils
• monitor and escalate any uneaten food to the management team
• adhering to the wider policies and legislation within the hospital regarding security, fire, health and safety, COSHH,the food hygiene act 1995.

What do I need before applying for the Head Chef position?

• Food hygiene certificate level 2 or higher
• Supervisory and training experience
• Understanding of the link between food and mental wellbeing
• A passion for cooking from fresh produce
• Knowledge of different food cultures
• Good organisation
• Good communication
