A quick look at the role.

Biffa require a Vac Operator whose focus will be to be responsible in safely and efficiently operating and monitoring machinery during process operations, along with ensuring finished goods are taken off and stored safely within the warehouse.

The role will require a good level of organisation to ensure housekeeping levels remain at a high standard and also strong identifying skills to address any issues or concerns to the production supervisor/lead tech.

  • Responsibility for personal Health and Safety and a Duty of Care to colleagues working at the same time.
  • Supporting shift participation for near miss and hazard reporting to assist Biffa Polymers in achieving excellence in Health and Safety as well as meeting business KPI’s.
  • Carrying out operator duties regarding machine running to ensure optimum performance and availability while also ensuring machine TPM’s are fully completed safely and correctly.
  • Ensuring a high standard of housekeeping is maintained throughout all internal and external plant areas.
  • Supporting throughout each shift to ensure machines are manned at all times, ensuring all staff breaks are within planned timescales or break requirements, ensuring smoking personnel are not breaching H&S safety guidelines and to ensure all are adhering to the policies of no mobile phones or portable devices within the plant areas.

Requirements

Here’s what we require:

Technical Experience –

  • Forklift licence desirable (training provided).
  • Previous experience in an operational environment is desirable.

Additional requirements –

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate on a one to one basis and via the phone with all levels including management, team members and internal/external customers.
  • Ability to plan, organise and prioritise effectively.
  • Strong self-motivator however also able to work as part of a team.
  • Flexible in approach.
  • Strong problem-solving skills in a time critical environment.
