Job Description

Ramboll is ranked a Top 10 consultant in the UK and has 1,300 people working across 17 offices who apply their passion to deliver innovative solutions across Buildings, Transport, Environment and Health, and Energy. We love seeing our talents develop and succeed and you will have opportunities to work on challenging and inspiring projects within an environment that is friendly, open, and supportive, recognised in The Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2024.

Do you have expertise in low carbon energy and passion for solving the most pressing sustainability challenges? Do you crave a stimulating role with flexibility and work-life balance?

If this sounds like you, or you’re curious to learn more, then this role could be the perfect opportunity. Join our Energy Strategy and Planning team as our new Senior and work with us to close the gap to a sustainable future.

Your new role

As our new Senior Consultant for Energy Strategy and Planning, you will work across our portfolio of projects and clients, providing whole-energy system energy strategies and masterplans, policy advisory services and market research. Our approach is centred on our core expertise in low carbon district heating and cooling, in which we are market leading. We are very interested in talking to people who may be on a career break and are thinking about returning to consultancy. We will consider full-time, part-time and job-sharing arrangements. You will have the opportunity to be part of a fast-growing team where you can influence growth plans, and which provides excellent career development opportunities.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Coordination and management of projects and proposals, working with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Analysis: devising clear analytical approaches to exploring complex challenges
  • Reporting & outputs: writing reports and presentations, as well as reviewing outputs of colleagues
  • Supporting business development for the Energy Strategy and Planning service line; building client relationships with both public and private sector clients and identifying opportunities for future work.
  • Collaboration with other Energy Strategy and Planning team members, supporting the creation of a positive and creative work environment.

Your new team

You will be part of a dynamic and growing team, leading on the technical and engineering aspects of our projects which typically involve area-based solutions.  With the climate emergency in sharp focus, our approach is to deliver long-lasting low carbon energy solutions.  We take a whole energy system approach that considers the interplay and efficiency benefits of a multi-vector design.  Projects typically involve pre-design strategies and concept designs, masterplans, feasibility studies and technical inputs to business case development.  We often assess multiple scenarios and make recommendations for decarbonisation pathways, and programmes of work to prioritise and implement solutions.

In responding to the far-reaching impacts of the climate emergency, we frequently work with UK colleagues across business units to provide holistic sustainable solutions.  We work with international colleagues to provide best practice solutions that utilises our global skills and expertise, notably in local energy systems.
