Radiology Assistant

One Ashford Hospital, Kent has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Radiology Assistant to join our friendly Diagnostic Imaging team.

Reporting to the Diagnostic Imaging Manager, the successful candidate will assist the radiographers and Consultant Radiologists with radiological procedures in line with national guidelines, hospital policies and best practice standards.

You will also help with the administrative running of the Radiology department as and when required.

Hours: 37.5 per week; shifts between 8am & 8pm Monday to Friday.

Role responsibilities:

• Assist patients throughout their time within the Imaging department and preparing patients prior to their imaging
• Assisting the Radiographers in maintaining an efficient daily work list, workflow of patients
• Assist Radiologists in carrying out radiological examinations, prepare the examination room at the beginning of each list, ensuring linen is clean and the room is tidy and fit for purpose.
• Ensure all documentation is present and correct prior to the list beginning.
• Use Patient Administration Systems to construct the daily work list.
• Working closely with the appointments team to ensure all sessions are used optimally.
• Keep patients informed before, during and after examination, including how and where to get the results from the examination.
• Supporting in an administrative capacity as and when required

Radiology Assistant

Qualifications:

• Minimum GCSE education or equivalent
• NVQ or equivalent, Level 2/3 in Health & Social Care preferred

Experience:

• Ability to learn and develop and undertake appropriate training for the role
• Clinical experience in a hospital / healthcare setting

Skills:

• Patient focused; able to deliver a high standard of customer care
• Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the business
• Basic computer skills; familiar with MS Office suite
• Sound written and verbal communication skills

Desirables:

• Experience in the private healthcare sector
• Previous experience of working in a healthcare environment or within the service industry
• Enthusiasm for cross functional working within different departments
